Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi said if the BJP doesn’t reduce the GST tax rate to a flat 18 percent “we will do it in 2019”.
He said he’s still not satisfied even though the Centre cut the GST rate from 28 percent to 18 percent on more than 200 items. He also said “We don’t need five different tax slabs, We want only one 18 percent tax slab. If BJP does not do it we will do it in 2019”, from the campaign trail in Gandhinagar in poll-bound Gujarat. GST means “Gabbar Singh Tax”, from the view of Rahul. Rahul also said that the government has reduced GST rate because of the force of ordinary people and the Congress.

The government made major changes in four-month-old GST regime by cutting rates of 178 items from 28 percent to 18 percent.

Rahul said the implementation of GST was hasty and tardy that the new tax regime along with last November’s demonetisation have made joblessness and have affected small businesses in Gujarat.

“I went to Surat (in Gujarat) and people there work day in and day out for the country. But BJP has not helped these small traders but has helped big industrialists,” said Rahul.
